when i take half of my number and add two, i get twenty four

let x be the unknown number.

0.5x + 2  = 24

0.5x + 2 - 2  = 24 - 2

0.5x = 22

0.5x / 0.5 = 22/0.5

x = 44

Answer: x = 44

*note: if 22 was being multiplied by 0.5 than that would be 11 but, because it is being divided by 0.5 it is going to be the opposite, 44.
