remember, you can do ANYTHING to an equaiton as long as you do it to BOTH sides

-7=-1+8x-6
we can move the numbers around and simplify
-7=-1-6+8x
-7=-7+8x
add 7 to both sides
7-7=7-7+8x
0=0+8x
0=8x
divide both sides by 8
0=x
x=0
