How was the Buchenwald concentration camp different from Treblinka and Auschwitz?

Answer:

It was not a death camp.  It was originally built for "political" prisoners.  It was built before the Final Solution was established.  Though tens of thousands died there, the prisoners were not sent there specifically to be exterminated.
